Barnet TUC
Supporting trade unions and public services in LB Barnet
WHO WE ARE, WHAT WE DO

Barnet Trades Union Council (Barnet TUC) is a group of people from across the London Borough of Barnet who support trade unions and want to defend and improve public services.

Part of the structure of the national Trades Union Congress (TUC), our constitution includes the aim: "To improve generally the economic and social conditions of working people, including seeking improvements to the social services, public education, housing and health." We share news and ideas about trade union issues and discuss wider questions such as social justice and opposition to racism and other forms of discrimination.

There has been a TUC in Barnet in the past and we are happy to revive the tradition! The current incarnation was launched on 22 April 2008 in Hendon Town Hall, with speakers from Fremantle care workers' dispute, Hope Not Hate campaign, PCS and RMT unions, and the Greater London Association of TUCs.

Chair: Helen Davies (Unison)

Vice-chair: John Burgess (Unison)

Secretary: Austin Harney (PCS)

Treasurer: Paul Coles (GMB)
